Analysis of the Current Production Status of High-Speed Wire Rods

High-speed wire rod refers to wire steel rolled by high-speed steel rolling mills. Through the analysis of the current production status of high-speed wire rods, we have learned that: at present, the main varieties of high-speed wire rod products in China include plain carbon steel, high-quality carbon steel, electrode steel, welding wire steel, spring steel, bearing steel, carbon structural steel, stainless steel, high-speed tool steel, cold heading steel, low alloy steel, etc. Baosteel, Wuhan Iron and Steel, Maanshan Iron and Steel, Jiuquan Iron and Steel and other enterprises can also produce a certain amount of steel cord. The current production status of high-speed wire rods is analyzed as follows:
Wire rod is one of the important products of the iron and steel industry, which is widely used in various infrastructure construction, construction engineering and metal products industry. The general trend of the development of wire rod production is to increase rolling speed, improve precision, increase coil weight and expand the specification range. At present, China has become the country with the largest number of high-speed wire rod production lines and the highest output in the world.
Problems existing in China's high-speed wire rod production lines:
1. The proportion of alloy steel wire rods in high-quality steel wire rods is still relatively low. Some high-quality alloy steel wire rods, clean steel wire rods and free-cutting steel wire rods still have problems in variety and quality, and need to be imported every year.
2. The quality of some products still has problems, such as low steel cleanliness, insufficiently stable mechanical properties of the whole wire rod, and large deviation of carbon content.
3. Although China has a number of world-class production lines, the variety and quality of products are still not up to world-class standards. For example, although Baosteel, Wuhan Iron and Steel and other enterprises can produce steel cord, the output is relatively low, and especially the product quality cannot fully satisfy users and cannot completely replace imports.
4. There is a large gap between the calendar operation rate and hourly output of China's high-speed wire rods compared with those of advanced countries' production lines. In addition to insufficient billet supply, the main reasons are the long working hours required for production preparation and specification change, the short service life and insufficient reserve of equipment spare parts, and the imperfect equipment maintenance and monitoring means, which result in long fault shutdown and maintenance time.
5. There is also a certain gap in hot charging rate, fuel consumption and power consumption in production compared with those of advanced countries' production lines.
Characteristics of High-speed Wire Rod
1. It has high dimensional accuracy and small ellipticity;
2. It adopts centralized coil air cooling, with uniform composition and good mechanical properties;
3. Due to the adoption of negative tolerance rolling, it saves metal, and the high-speed wire rod of the same weight is longer than the ordinary wire rod;
4. Each piece has only one head and one tail;
5. High-speed wire rod is generally 20 to 40 yuan per ton more expensive than ordinary wire rod.
Uses of High-speed Wire Rod
1. High-quality carbon steel wire rod (GB4354-84). High-quality carbon steel wire rod is rolled with high-quality carbon structural steel. It is one of the varieties with large consumption in wire rod products.
Main uses: High-quality carbon steel wire rod is mainly used for processing and manufacturing carbon spring steel wire, oil-quenched
tempered carbon spring steel wire, prestressed steel wire, high-strength high-quality carbon structural steel wire, galvanized steel wire, galvanized stranded wire and steel rope, etc.
2. High-quality carbon steel torsion-free controlled cooling and hot-rolled wire rod (ZBH44002-88). High-quality carbon steel torsion-free controlled cooling and hot-rolled wire rod is rolled by torsion-free high-speed wire rod mill and subjected to controlled cooling treatment after rolling. Compared with high-quality carbon steel wire rod, it has higher dimensional accuracy, better surface quality and higher mechanical properties.
Main uses: The main uses are the same as those of high-quality carbon steel wire rod. It is often used to manufacture carbon spring steel wire, oil-quenched tempered carbon spring steel wire, prestressed steel wire, high-quality carbon structural steel wire, galvanized steel wire, etc.
3. Wire rod for rope-making steel wire (YB349-64). Wire rod for rope-making steel wire is one of the hot-rolled wire rods of high-quality carbon structural steel.
Main uses: Wire rod for rope-making steel wire can be made of high-quality carbon structural steel with grades 35, 40, 45, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80 and 85. Its chemical composition conforms to the provisions of GB699 (Technical Conditions for High-Quality Carbon Structural Steel).
4. Torsion-free controlled cooling and hot-rolled wire rod for rope-making steel wire (ZBH44004-88). Torsion-free controlled cooling and hot-rolled wire rod for rope-making steel wire is made of high-quality carbon structural steel, rolled on a torsion-free wire rod mill and subjected to controlled cooling after rolling. The wire rod rolled in this way has high dimensional accuracy, good surface quality and superior mechanical properties.
Main uses: It is mainly used for drawing rope-making steel wire and steel strand wire.
5. Torsion-free controlled cooling and hot-rolled wire rod for carbon electrode steel (ZBH44005-88). Torsion-free controlled cooling and hot-rolled wire rod for carbon electrode steel is rolled on a torsion-free wire rod mill and subjected to controlled cooling after rolling. It has high dimensional accuracy, good surface quality and superior performance, and is a high-quality electrode steel wire rod.
Main uses: It is mainly used for manufacturing hot-rolled wire rods of carbon steel with coated electrode cores.
6. Alloy structural steel hot-rolled wire rod (GB3077-82). Alloy structural steel hot-rolled wire rod is rolled with alloy structural steel as the material. There are 26 steel groups and 78 steel grades of alloy structural steel in total. Each manufacturer selects various grades for production according to the requirements of purchasers and different uses.
